Distress Signal 2012 |

Jack Comeau is a talented and prolific screenwriter who has decided to test the waters with a novel. He sent me the galleys of “Distress Signal” and asked me if I had any drawings he could use for the cover. Since the action takes place on Nantucket I sent him copies of all my Nantucket drawings and asked him to pick one. Then I read the book. The first thing the desperate hero sees when his ferry approaches Nantucket is the iconic Nantucket lighthouse, Brant Light.
Since the action takes place in the past as well as the present I decided to do a drawing of Brant Light as a scrimshaw.
The book was just published and is the perfect summer read. I also think it will make a great movie.
